In a remarkable medical achievement, a 63-year-old woman in Azerbaijan has given birth to her first child after waiting 38 years to become a mother.
The news was announced by Dr Natig Makharramov, a prominent medical researcher and PhD holder, through his official social media account. Medical experts have described the birth as one of the significant accomplishments in the field of reproductive medicine.
The couple had hoped and prayed for a child for 38 years after their marriage. Even after reaching their fifties and sixties, they did not give up on their dream of becoming parents. After undergoing years of infertility treatments, they finally achieved a successful pregnancy with the help of advanced assisted reproductive medicine.
Commenting on the case, Dr Makharramov said that, with God's grace, the treatment had been successfully completed. He said the 63-year-old mother had finally been able to hold her baby after nearly four decades of waiting and expressed gratitude for witnessing one of the happiest moments in the couple's lives.
He added that both the mother and the newborn were in good health following the delivery and wished them a healthy and joyful future.
Giving birth after the age of 60 is considered extremely rare worldwide. Such pregnancies are generally made possible through Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART), including In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF).
The news has sparked widespread discussion both in Azerbaijan and internationally. Many social media users described the birth as a miracle, while others commented that age is only a number and that the combination of scientific advancement and human determination had turned nearly four decades of sorrow into joy for one family.
