Brisbane: A man in his 60s died of snakebite while his helpless wife watched the horrible nightmare happening before her eyes.

A reports by New Zealand Herald said that the man, whose identity is not revealed, died before the paramedics could arrive.

The incident took place on Saturday as the man was bitten by the snake on his hand.

Authorities have not yet confirmed what species of the snake attacked him. But it is believed that he was bitten by an eastern brown snake.

Also known as common brown snake, this highly venomous snake is native to eastern and central Australia.

The father of the two died at Lockyer Valley, located nearly 50 kilometres from Brisbane.

The man’s wife screamed through the fence for help before the ambulance arrived, Courier Mail reported quoting a neigbhour.

Queensland is currently experiencing a snake season, which began in October will end in April, according to Heather McMurray a contractor for Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers.

McMurray said the heat and humidity make snakes to come out, which is all the more so in the case of pythons that love humidity and the brown snakes that love the hot and dry days.

Just days before a man in Hervey Bay, Queensland, had the shock of his life after he found a huge foot snake in the toilet.

He found the snake trapped inside when he lifted the toilet seat.
