Amid Clash surrounding Nagorno –Karabakh is gathering momentum, Armenian Prime Minister sought help from Russia. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Saturday send a letter urging Russian president Vladimir Putin to launch immediate discussions on helps that Russia can provide to Armenia.
"PM Nikol Pashinyan addressed Russian president Putin to launch immediate consultations to define type and scale of assistance that Russian Federation can provide", Armenia's Ministry of foreign affairs tweeted.
"And it is based on allied relation between Russia - Armenia and article 2 of Treaty on Friendship, Co-operation and Mutual Assistance of August 29 1997." the tweet read.
The letter unfolds atrocities done by Azerbaijani and Turkish military, as Armenia accused of transferring of foreign terrorist fighters from Middle East to Nagorno- Karabakh- statement by Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Treaty on Friendship, Co-operation and Mutual Assistance was signed between then Russian President Boris Yeltsin and Armenian counterpart Levon Ter Petrossian. The treaty stipulates joint use of military facilities and equpiments, if Russia or Armenia attacked by any foreign country.
The move from Armenia comes during discussions to end hostilities with Azerbaijan.Earlier on Friday, Armenia's foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanga had met with his Azerbaijani Counterpart Cyhun Bayramov at Geneva to hasten implementation of joint statement agreed on October 10 in Moscow. The meeting was attended by OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, Igor Popov ( Russia), Stephane Visconti ( France ) and Andrew Schofer ( USA).
Along that, on 27th October, America state secretary Mike Pompeo had urged both countries for cessation of hostilities.
