A woman in China quits job to become ‘full-time daughter’ for a decent pay

Beijing: A Chinese woman has quit her high paying but stressful job to become ‘full-time daughter’ for a pay of $570 (Rs 47,000).

The 40-year-old Nianan worked her fingers to the bone at a new agency for 15 years.

However, when a change in role in 2022 meant more stress and constant working that was when her parents stepped in to help her out.

They asked her to quit the job offering that they would take care of her, South China Morning Post reported.

Parents offered her a monthly allowance of 4,000 yuan, or $570 from their pension of more than 10,000 yuan.

Nianan left her job at the news agency as she could not reject the help that hauled her out of the tedious work.

The new role means a lot to her as she calls it a ‘professional filled with love’, which is a world apart from the job at office.

Now her daily routine begins with one hour dancing with her parents, accompanying them to grocery shopping as well as cooking dinner with her father, driving them around and organising their monthly family outings or vacations.

The new job has turned out to be quite therapeutic for her, while discovering the ‘biggest source of pressure’ in her life was her desire to earn ‘more money’.

However, parents are not binding her to home, because they told her to find a better job if she still wants a different job.

Nianan’s new job has made a lot of young people in China discussing the idea but many others likened it to dependency on parents.
