Kabul: A powerful explosion triggered by a suicide attacker in the Afghan capital of Kabul killed 19 people, and wounded 27 others on Friday, Reuters reported.
A spokesperson for the Kabul police chief said the explosion took place in the educational institution in the Dashti Barchi neighborhood of Kabul.
Not outfits so far have claimed responsibility for the attack that targeted the ethnic minority Hazara living in the western area where the blast happened.
Hazara were previously targeted by militant group Islamic State.
Kabul police spokesperson Khalid Zadran Khalid Zadran was quoted by Reuters as saying that the blast which happened inside an institution has casualties.
Videos and photos emerged online showed victims being removed from the scene of the explosion.
While a spokesperson for Interior ministry, Abdul Nafy Takor tweeted that targeting civilians explains the enemy's inhuman cruelty and lack of moral standards.
The latest attack is reminiscent of the 2020 attack by Islamic state that claimed the life of several teenage students among the 24 killed.
Since Taliban took over Afghanistan after the US forces left the country, Afghanistan saw a series of blasts at mosques and civilian areas in recent times.
