In a viral video from Melbourne, Australia, an 11-year-old girl was seen handling and playing with a very venomous snake. She, however, was not harmed and the netizens are describing her as "very lucky".
The video shows that the girl had picked up an eastern brown snake while walking outside with her grandparents. It looks like the video was shot by the child herself. Her guardians shared the clip with Stewy the Snake Catcher who took to Facebook to use it as a warning to the public.
He said the girl in the video is extremely lucky to not be bitten because eastern brown snakes are a nervous variety. "They are responsible for the most deaths caused by snake bites in Australia. This situation is very dangerous. The girl in the video is extremely lucky that she wasn't bitten by the snake and her parents should probably go and buy a lottery ticket." The snake in the video appeared to be sitting on the girl's palm very calmly without trying to wiggle its way out.
The voiceover in the video suggests that the child thought it was a harmless reptile. She is heard referring to it as a "getter snake", a non-venomous species. It also resembles eastern brown snakes.
