US assisted Ukraine in hitting Russian commanders

Washington: Media reports suggested that Kyiv was assisted by the United States forces in killing Russian generals by sharing intelligence on the generals' locations inside Ukraine, IANS reported.

The New York Times reported that the US gave Ukraine forces information on Russian mobile military headquarters, which were frequently shifted along the war zone.

According to sources, Ukraine used this information and combined it with its own intelligence data to hit Russian commanding officers. However, the US officials did not clarify an exact figure of the number of Russian commanders killed with their help, nor the methods Washington employed to dig up the data on the locations of these commanders.

The NYT reported that the US agencies used a range of sources, including classified and commercial satellites, throughout the conflict days to trace Russian troops' movements. NYT added that the claimed assistance was a classified effort by US President Joe Biden's administration.

However, National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson rejected the report and stressed that the US never provided such assistance to Ukraine forces, intending to kill Russian generals. Meanwhile, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby acknowledged that the US provided Ukraine with information and intelligence to defend itself. He refused to reveal any details.
