Tossing his infant out of a window, a father jumps to escape a building fire; video goes viral

South Brunswick: As seen in the video shared by the South Brunswick Township Police Department's public relations office, firefighters are panicked as they approach the burning building.

Video shows a New Jersey man hurling his 3-year-old son and jumping from a window to escape a fire.

Having spread their arms beneath the building, the officers tried to convince the man trapped on the second floor to throw the infant down.

Officers shouting "pass the baby down" can be heard as the father clears a passage from the window while debris rains down.

The horrified infant was then tossed out the window before he jumped from the second floor, headfirst.

A body camera was used by an officer to capture the terrifying ordeal which occurred last week.

According to the South Brunswick PD, the post was captioned: "Rescue captured on officers' body worn camera. Dad throws child out 2nd floor window to officers and firefighters, then jumps to escape flames consuming apartment building."

According to CBS News, South Brunswick Township Police Department's Sergeant John Penney said "You see a child, it just cranks up the adrenaline."

Viewers have praised the officers for their rescue efforts in the video, which has been viewed over 7,500 times.

Mr. Penney said that the situation was getting worse quickly, and that there was "smoke pouring out above him".
