Social media platform X faced another outage on Friday evening, affecting thousands of users in India and several other countries, marking the second such disruption in four days.
According to outage tracking website Downdetector, reports of problems began around 8 pm and peaked at more than 4,500 complaints by about 8.50 pm. Users reported difficulty accessing the website and using core features of the platform.
The company has not issued any official statement explaining the cause of the outage.
The disruption comes days after X owner Elon Musk announced plans to make the platform’s algorithmic code for news feed recommendations and advertising open source. On Sunday, Musk said the code would be published to increase transparency and would be updated regularly with detailed notes explaining changes in how posts are recommended to users.
