WhatsApp to restrict services for users who don't accept the updated privacy policy

Washington: WhatsApp Messenger has announced that those who do not accept the latest privacy policy will be restricted access to certain services on the app. Though accounts will not be deleted, users who do not accept the terms by May 15 may face hindrance in accessing chatboxes.

The new terms and conditions proposed by WhatsApp in January 2021 had generated concerns for exploitation of user data as it states that WhatsApp would share data with parent company Facebook. Following widespread protests, the company had extended the deadline from February to May 15.

The link to accept the new privacy terms will be available for an indefinite number of days after May 15. If the terms are not accepted within the deadline, users may not be able to access their chatbox. However, if notification is enabled, users can receive voice and video calls.
