Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has put his first-ever tweet in the micro-blogging for auction. The tweet, which was put on the 22nd March 2006 in the initial years of Twitter, goes "just setting up my twttr". Jack Dorsey tweeted the auction with links to the listing on 'Valuables by Cent', the marketplace of tweets, last Friday.
Within minutes of the tweet, it drew large bids up to $88,888.88. Though the old offers indicate that the tweet was up for sale from December, it caught largescale attention only after Dorsey's tweet. The auction bid-offer skyrocketed up to two million dollars (14.63 crores) on Saturday.
Jack Dorsey has listed his popular tweet for sale on the website under the category of 'non-fungible token' (NFT). NFT serves as the digital signature to acknowledge who owns pictures, videos, and other media on the web. It will be the only version that attracts the bidders to the NFT.
The 15-year old tweet of Dorsey is the most popular ever tweets on the platform. The auctioneers can, hence, expect high bids. The highest bid of the tweet on Saturday was two million dollars. Justin Sun, the founder of the cryptocurrency platform TRON, is the person who claimed the highest bid. Earlier, he had also won the charity dinner of Warren Buffett through auction.
