Elon Musk's artificial intelligence initiative, xAI, has introduced Grok exclusively for Premium Plus subscribers of X in India.
The expansion also encompasses 46 other countries, including Pakistan, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and Singapore.
This unveiling follows the recent announcement that unveiled access to Grok for X Premium+ subscribers in the United States.
Grok, currently in its beta phase, is accessible solely to X Premium+ subscribers at a rate of Rs 1,300 per month or Rs 13,600 per year in India, aligning with the pricing structure in other regions where Grok is available.
Distinguished from conventional chatbots, Grok is engineered to provide clever and engaging responses, operating in two distinct modes: fun and regular. By harnessing real-time data from X, Grok can respond to queries that might have been overlooked by other prominent AI chatbots.
Elon Musk's strategy has been pivoting towards reducing reliance on advertising and enhancing subscriptions' allure, as advertisers progressively move away from the microblogging platform. His vision for X extends beyond a chatbot; he envisions transforming it into a "super app" offering an array of services, from messaging and social networking to peer-to-peer payments.
The launch of xAI in July was prompted by Elon Musk's critique of Big Tech's AI initiatives, citing excessive censorship and inadequate safety measures.
Major tech entities like Microsoft and Alphabet's Google are racing to introduce AI-driven products following the global impact of OpenAI's chatbot ChatGPT, a company Musk co-founded in 2015 before stepping down from its board in 2018.
