Google rolls out AI-powered photo editing in Google Photos for India

New Delhi: Tech giant Google announced on Wednesday the launch of a new Artificial Intelligence-powered photo editing feature in Google Photos, now available to users across India. The tool enables effortless image modifications by simply describing desired changes via voice or text, powered by advanced Gemini capabilities.

To use it, users open a photo, tap "Help me edit," and issue commands like "make the background blurry," "remove the glare," or "make the colours pop." The feature supports conversational editing for seamless tool switching and personalised adjustments, such as "remove [name's] sunglasses" or "make [name] smile," drawing from private face groups for accuracy.

Additional innovations include Nano Banana for creative transformations via style descriptions and C2PA Content Credentials for transparency, which attach permanent digital labels detailing an image's origin and edit history.

Available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, Telugu, Bengali, and Gujarati, the feature works on Android devices with at least 4GB RAM and Android 8.0 or higher.
