Mountain View: In preparation for the upcoming holiday season, Google has unveiled a range of shopping features and tools designed to assist consumers in discovering the best product deals.
These tools will be available in both Google Chrome and Google Search, offering the ability to save products, track prices, and gain insights into product pricing.
Google has announced that this year, shoppers will have access to twice as many deals as the previous year, thanks to comprehensive product and pricing data. Among the key features, a dedicated deals page has been introduced, which consolidates products and offers from numerous brands and retailers onto a single page.
This new deals portal, accessible through Google Search, will feature a wide array of products across various categories, including apparel, electronics, toys, and beauty. The deals will be sourced from a diverse range of merchants, encompassing big-box stores, direct-to-consumer brands, luxury multi-brand retailers, designer labels, and local stores.
Shoppers can easily browse deals by category and access product information by clicking on items of interest. To access the deals page, users can simply search for 'shop deals' on Google. Alternatively, specific product categories can be directly accessed by searching 'shop apparel deals,' for instance.
In addition to the deals page, Google is introducing discount tracking features on Chrome.
The browser will display products recently viewed on shopping sites in a "resume browsing" card. Moreover, while on a shopping website, users can click the new 'discount' tag icon in the Chrome address bar to view available coupon codes from the site.
The "shopping insights" label, already available on Google Search, will also be integrated into Chrome on the desktop. When visiting supported shopping sites, a "shopping insights" label will appear in the Chrome address bar. Clicking on this label will open a side panel displaying the product's typical price range and a price history graph for the past 90 days.
Furthermore, Google is enhancing the ability to set price drop alerts on both Search and Chrome. While looking for products on Search from Chrome on mobile devices, shoppers can click the bell icon next to the product name. This action will enable them to receive email and push notifications if the product's price decreases across various online retailers.
