The German intelligence unit, Bundesnachrichtendienst (BND), has entered the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) by launching a unique collection centered around dogs. The aim of this initiative is to attract promising cyber talent from the public.
The BND's NFT collection, named 'Dogs of BND,' will serve as a gateway to a blockchain-based treasure hunt. Successful participants in this virtual challenge will have the opportunity to enter cyber services with the unit. A total of 999 NFTs will be part of this exclusive venture.
Each NFT within the 'Dogs of BND' collection will draw inspiration from the BND's guard and security dogs, lending a distinct character to these digital collectibles. Furthermore, every NFT will represent various intelligence roles, adding to their uniqueness, said a statement on the official BND website.
Unlike traditional NFT collections available for sale on marketplaces, the 'Dogs of BND' collectibles will not be directly purchasable. Instead, interested individuals will need to discover a character string posted on Instagram, which will eventually connect to an Ethereum address. Through this connection, participants will be able to mint their own NFT.
The official website of BND explained the process: "Any person who has a cryptocurrency digital wallet (crypto-wallet / digital wallet/e-wallet) that supports Ethereum-based tokens has the opportunity to secure an NFT image. Since the external platform used does not allow NFTs to be offered completely free of charge, the NFT images have a symbolic price of 0.000001 ETH or $0.0019 (roughly Rs. 0.16)."
At the end of the "treasure hunt," individuals with proficient cyber knowledge will be able to mint the NFT and showcase their expertise.
However, the BND reserves the right to disqualify participants who attempt to manipulate the competition or violate the conditions of participation, as mentioned on the website: "The Federal Intelligence Service reserves the right to disqualify participants who manipulate or attempt to manipulate the competition or otherwise violate these conditions of participation."
Within the 'Dogs of BND' collection, the BND has set aside 12 NFTs to link with more challenging tasks and reward them as prizes.
