Elon Musk removes headlines of articles on X for ‘aesthetic’ reasons

Paris: The social media platform X will not carry headline of news shared by users over what Musk reportedly said "aesthetic" reasons.

The change will now allow news and other links to appear only as pictures with no accompanying text, according to NDTV.

Musk’s decision to do away with headlines could worsen X’s relations with media groups.

It comes against the backdrop of Musk’s previous claim that X itself a better source of information.

After taking over the then Twitter last year, Musk introduced major changes to the platform including remaining it X.

Alongside, the billionaire went about sacking thousands of employees in the name of cost cutting.

Musk faced criticism for allowing ‘banned conspiracy theorists and extremists’ to return to the platform.

Musk reportedly banned and reinstated some journalists with the Washington Post and CNN and delayed posts from accounts including the New York Times appearing on the platform.

Subsequently, some media groups reportedly have stopped posting to X, suggesting their worsening relations with the platform.

New agency AFP and other French news outlets accused X of copyright breaches filing legal case against the platform in August.

However, Musk on Tuesday stated that he almost never read ‘legacy news anymore’, asking what was the point of reading ‘1,000 words about something that was already posted on X several days ago?’

Users can now see only picture with small watermark rather than the headlines with picture.

The changes introduced now makes it difficult to distinguish between news and other kinds of information, some users said.
