ElevenLabs has officially launched its new AI-powered text-to-speech mobile application for Android and iOS platforms, bringing its core voice generation technology to smartphones for the first time.
This marks the company’s second mobile release, following the ElevenReader app, which transforms ebooks into audiobooks using artificial intelligence.
In a blog post on Tuesday, the New York-based AI company introduced the new app, designed to offer seamless voice generation capabilities using its advanced speech synthesis models, including the Eleven v3 (alpha). The app allows users—both free and paid—to create human-like voiceovers from written text directly on their mobile devices.
The app features a wide variety of voices across different languages and styles.
NDTV reported that users can start with 19 default voices and expand the collection as needed. Voice options span male, female, and gender-neutral tones, with variations tailored to age ranges such as young, middle-aged, and elderly.
Additionally, the app includes voices suited for specific use cases like advertising, animation, conversation, TV anchoring, education, storytelling, and social media content creation.
Generating voiceovers is a simple process: users select a voice, enter or paste their text into a textbox on the home screen, and tap 'generate.' Within seconds, the app produces a high-quality audio clip that sounds impressively lifelike.
Previously, this feature was only accessible via ElevenLabs’ website or web-based app. The company noted that launching a dedicated mobile app was a direct response to user feedback asking for a faster, mobile-native experience.
Free-tier users are currently allowed to convert up to 10,000 characters into speech each month, while subscribers can utilise their ElevenLabs credits for more extensive usage. The app also syncs with a user’s web account, displaying existing projects and ensuring a smooth, integrated experience across devices.
