California: While Alphabet Inc, the parent company of Google, is cutting jobs globally, CEO Sundar Pichai has taken home a fat compensation, reports say.
The company’s security filing on Friday said that Pichai received about $226 million in 2022, Reuters reported.
Pichai's compensation of about $218 million including stock awards is 800 times the median employee’s pay, according to the report
The shocking disparity comes as Alphabet led by Pichai is showing the doors to employees left and right globally.
Adding to the pool of job loss, the California based company will reportedly remove 6 percent of its global work force, amounting to 12,000 jobs.
Following massive job cuts, hundreds of Google workers early this month protested staging a walkout at the company's London offices .
This comes after a similar protest in March by Google employees at its Zurich offices after more than 200 workers were laid off.
