Britain: British Police warned ace footballer Christiano Ronaldo after footage of him smashing a phone out of an opposing-team fan's hand emerged. The Manchester United forward went rude against the Everton fan at a match last season, Agence France-Presse reported.
The incident happened on April 9 at Goodison Park after the Manchester United v Everton match. Ronaldo was subjected to quizzing by officials after an allegation of assault and criminal damage, officials informed.
However, Ronaldo later stated an apology on social media for his outburst. He also invited the supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford.
In his Instagram post, the Portuguese footballer wrote that dealing with emotions at difficult moments is never easy. But still, one must always be respectful and patient and set an example for all the youngsters who love football.
The incident surfaced when there were speculations that he might leave Manchester United, and Ronaldo stated those speculations as lies. The struggling United had lost 4-0 against Brentford on Saturday, even after Ronaldo played the entire 90 minutes. The team thus reached the bottom of the Premier League.
