The audience of the live telecast of the match between Caledonian Thistle and IR United were up for a surprise when the wide-angle shots failed to cover the ball in action. In the match that was conducted at the Caledonian stadium in Scotland, the shots instead focused on the bald head of the line referee who was running outside of the touchline.
It was only a few minutes into the match that the problem was identified. To reduce human interaction at the match keeping with Covid-19 restrictions, the match organizers swapped cameramen for Artificial Intelligence Cameras with ball tracking abilities.
The AI camera mistook the bald head of the referee for a football and failed to cover the ball and players. This lead to both laughs and annoyance amongst the audience. Commentators apologized for the same amidst match commentary.
The camera company which took up the contract apologized once the issue started going viral on social media. They assured to resolve the issue and also offered that this would not occur again.
