U-19 T20I WC: India women dance to 'Kala Chasma' over victory

Mumbai: Winning the ICC Women's U-19 T20I World Cup, Shefali Verma led Indian women made a show of celebration. A video of the team, wearing medals, dancing to the hit number "Kala Chasma" has been shared by ICC on Instagram, NDTV reported.

ICC captioned the video, "Winning on the field and off it. India - ICC Women's #U19T20WorldCup Champions". Further, the footage "The new Kala Chashma Champions" could also be read.

India wrote history, winning the inaugural edition of the tournament and defeating England for seven wickets.

In the video, the joy of their victory is evident on their faces. They mimicked the hook step of the song and did not even hesitate to add some of their own dance steps.

After being shared, the video gathered nearly 7 lakh likes and 3000 plus comments. Netizens lauded the women for their victorious performance and congratulated them.

Congratulatory comments ranged from "Women..exceptionally beautiful", "They came, saw and conquered", "and "Unbelievable performance by team India".

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his congratulatory message through Twitter. He tweeted, "Congratulations to the Indian Team for a special win... They have played excellent cricket, and their success will inspire several upcoming cricketers. Best wishes to the team for their future endeavours."

President Droupadi Murmu tweeted, "Congratulations to Team India for winning the inaugural Under 19 Women's T20 World Cup for Cricket! These talented young girls put up outstanding performances. These champions are an inspiration for our youth, especially the girls. The historic win has made India proud."
