T20I WC: England sweeps India out; enters final

Adelaide: England has snuffed out India's Men's T20I World Cup 2022 title dreams with a thrashing win of 10 wickets in the semi-final match between them at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday.

English men chased the 168 total posed by Men-in-Blue with four overs to spare after openers Alex Hales and Jos Buttler scored unbeaten 86 off 47 and 80 off 49 balls, respectively.

Now, England will face Pakistan in the final at Melbourne on November 13, Sunday.

After winning the toss, England sent India to bat first. Opener KL Rahul got out after scoring just 5 runs, and skipper Rohit Sharma, 27 off 28. It was Virat Kohli who displayed some consistency and made a half-ton (50 off 40) but couldn't sustain the flow and got out.

Suryakumar Yadav was in going on a good strike rate but fell at 14 off ten balls where he had smashed a six and a boundary. The youngster and wicketkeeper-batter Rishab Pant got run out.

It was Hardik Pandya, who loosened out at the tail end, five sixes and four boundaries to score 63 off 33. He got out in the last over's last ball in hit wicket.

Chris Jordan took three wickets, and Adil Rashid executed a tight spell to restrict India.
