ICC's 2023-27 schedule includes 2 5-match Ind-Aus Test series

Dubai: Australia will host India for a five-Test series, and then another five-Test series will be played between the two countries in India later during the men's 2023-27 cricket Future Tours Programme (FTP), the International Cricket Council informed on Wednesday.

The announced five-match Test series between the two cricket giants will be the first since 1992.

During the mentioned cycle, England will play 22 Tests, becoming the team to play most matches in the format in the mentioned cycle. While Australia is to play 21 Tests, India 20.

In the 2023-27 cycle, there will be five ICC events, and the first among them is the 2023 World Cup, to be hosted by India. West Indies and the USA will host the 2024 T20 World Cup, and in 2025, will host the Champions Trophy.

In 2026, India and Sri Lanka are to jointly host T20 World Cup, while the 2027 World Cup is to be held in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

ICC General Manager of Cricket Wasim Khan said that he thinks the organisation's members for their effort in creating the FTP. He expressed his excitement to have three formats of the game in the cycle, with global events, strong bilaterals and domestic cricket. He stated that the announced FTP would boost cricket.

In total, there will be 777 international matches in the 2023-27 FTP cycle. There will be 73 Tests, 291 ODIs and 323 T20Is. The current FTP cycle has 694 matches scheduled.
