Bollywood couple actor Sohail Khan and designer Seema Khan have filed for divorce in a Mumbai court. The duo have been married for 24 years and have two children.
Seema recently appeared on the Netflix show 'The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives' in which she was seen living separately from her husband. This spurred rumours about the couple being separated but she refuted the speculations. The designer had said her marriage is "unconventional".
She later said "I will just say this much, because it's out there, that whatever you see in the show, is the absolute truth. It is what it is, that's all I want to say about it." They eloped in 1998 and got married.
The Khans were seen leaving the family court in Mumbai on Friday. The couple appeared friendly towards each other when photographed. Sohail Khan left with his bodyguards and Seema Khan left the court alone. They appeared in front of Judge Maqdoom to complete the verification process of their divorce application, reported News 18.
On the show, Seema had addressed the speculations around her marriage. She said sometimes your relationships meander and go in different directions when you grow older. "I make no apologies because we are happy and my kids are happy". She was forthcoming about their living situation and talked openly about it on the show.
However, she had insisted that they are still a family, "a unit". Seema added that the four of them (Sohail, her, and the children) are what matter at the end of the day.
Sohail Khan is the younger brother of Salman Khan.
