Kerala State Electricity Board launches its 1st solar plant

Palakkad: With an aim to increase the share of power generation from renewable sources, Kerala State Electricity Board Limited (KSEBL) Thursday launched its first solar power plant at Kanjikode.

Electricity Minister Aryadan Muhammed inaugurated the 1 MW power generation unit at a function.

The plant, located on a vacant plot close to KSEB's 220-KV substation at Kanjikode, was installed at a cost of Rs 7 crore, KSEBL sources here said.

The power, generated from around 4,000 panels of the solar plant, would be transferred to the Kanjikode KV station, they said.

The plant is a part of the agency's plan to set up a string of such power generation units in vacant plots lying adjacent to KSEB stations.
