Patna school set on fire after 3-year-old found dead on the premises

Patna: An angry crowd on Friday set a school on fire in Bihar’s Patna after the body of a three-year-old was allegedly found on the premises, NDTV reported.

The shocking discovery was made even as a family was searching for their missing child after he did not return from school.

The family grew suspicious of something wrong, when the school authorities shied away from queries about the child’s whereabouts, triggering concern.

The family immediately began searching the school premises and eventually the body of the three-year-old was found concealed in a drainage gutter.

Patna Superintendent of Police, Chandra Prakash, reportedly said the child was seen entering the school premises in the CCTV footage but was not seen leaving the campus at any point.

As the situation began to escalate in the area, law enforcement officials arrived on the scene.

Chandra Prakash said that the investigation is underway, adding ‘We will investigate it as a murder case as they were hiding the body and it shows criminal intent. We have detained three persons, inquiry is on.’

In the protests that ensued after child’s family and community members taking to streets, several vehicles and parts of school’s buildings were set on fire.

The angry crowd has blocked the roads leading to the school.
