New Delhi: A family court in Noida summoned the Pakistani woman who has been living with her lover in India after sneaking into the country last year.
Seema Haider and her partner in India Sachin Meena claimed to have married in Kathmandu after they had met while playing the game PUBG.
However, her first husband Ghulam Haider , who lives in Karachi, approached the court in Noida challenging the validity of her marriage with Sachin Meena. Following this, Haider has been asked to appear before the court on May 27.
Ghulam Haider, through an Indian lawyer, challenged his four children's religious conversion, while seeking the custody of them.
However, Seema Haider and Sachin Meena celebrated their first wedding anniversary last month.
Lawyer Momin Malik, representing Ghulam Haider, claimed Seema had not obtained divorce thus her marriage with Sachin is not valid.
Ghulam Haider, who was working in Saudi Arabia when Seema came to India via the UAE and Nepal, approached the well-known Pakistani lawyer and human rights activist Ansar Burney seeking the custody of his children.
Burney hired lawyer Ali Momin in India and gave him power of attorney to initiate legal proceedings in Indian courts against Seema Haider.
Earlier Seema, who refused to return to Pakistan, told BBC she adopted Hinduism and claimed her children also converted to Hinduism.
Meanwhile, Burney pointed out that religious conversion of underage children is prohibited by international laws.
