Aadhaar made mandatory for government jobs

Thiruvananthapuram:  The unique identity document Aadhaar has been made mandatory for entry into Kerala government service. The Personnel & Administrative Reforms department has issued orders that new entrants to government service should link their Aadhaar to their one-time registration profile with Public Service Commission (PSC).

Those who have not completed the appointment scrutiny are also required to link their profile with Aadhaar,  as per the decision.   The government measure is in consideration of PSC's suggestion that Aadhaar linking should be made compulsory in order to make appointment scrutiny more efficient,  and to prevent job frauds.

Last November, PSC initiated steps steps of Aadhaar-linking in order to confirm the identity of candidates through biometric methods,   following the scam in the civil police officer tests.

At present about 50 lakh job-seekers have registered with PSC through one-time registration.  However,  only 32 lakh of them have so far linked their profile with Aadhaar.
