BJP attacks UPA 2 govt over media leak of old coup story

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday attacked the previous United Progressive Alliance (UPA) 2 government for allegedly leaking to the media a fictitious story about a coup seven years ago.

The party sought to know the identity of the minister who leaked the story of plot, allegedly being plotted by the army in 2012.

The story front-paged by The Indian Express revealed alleged unusual movement of two army units towards the capital on the intervening night of January 16 and 17.

BJP leader, GVL Narasimha Rao told the media that the coup story was an attempt to defame the Indian Army.
