ABP leader quits as DUSU president on fake degree charges

New Delhi: Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) president Ankiv Baisoya resigned on Thursday from the post over fake degree controversy.

ABVP suspended him from the organization till the enquiry in the case is complete.

After his election to the post, a rival students’ organisation accused the ABP leader of having submitted fake bachelor degree to fight elections.

“The moment ABVP won DUSU elections by 3:1, NSUI and other student organisations started raising questions on the authenticity of Baisoya’s previous degree and his admission to the DU. Keeping in mind students’ struggle, emotions and expectations and in order to maintain the genuineness, the ABVP asked Baisoya to resign from his post and also removed him from all the responsibilities of the organisation till DU completes its verification process,” ABVP spokesperson Monika Chaudhary was quoted as saying.

Rival students’ union called his resignation under pressure ahead of High Court hearing of the case.
