Blast near firecrackers godown in north Delhi's Naya Bazar area kills one

New Delhi: One person was killed and two others were injured in a deafening blast outside a firecracker godown here on Tuesday, police said.

The explosion -- captured dramatically on CCTV -- took place in a narrow lane of Naya Bazar in Old Delhi, not far from where firecrackers are sold in bulk for Diwali.

CCTV footage showed people on the lane, almost all of them males, running away from the blast site in panic.

In no time, security forces threw a cordon in the area.

"We have not identified the injured and the deceased. The samples of explosive have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory," Joint Commissioner of Police Virender Singh Chahal told IANS.

Windowpanes of the surrounding buildings were damaged due to the impact of the explosion.
