Make wearing rear-seat belts mandatory: Health Ministry

New Delhi: Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Saturday sent a letter to Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport, proposing that the rear seat belts should be made mandatory.

Earlier, the ministry had raised the issue after the death of Union Minister Gopinath Munde in an accident in New Delhi.

In Kerala, though former Road Transport Commissioner Rishiraj Singh has ordered to make the rear-seat belt mandatory, state government later withdrew the order as it created widespread criticism.
