UAE's tallest slide to debut as Yas Waterworld expands with 18 new rides, attractions

The highly anticipated expansion of Yas Waterworld in Abu Dhabi is well underway, with construction now more than 55 percent complete, according to developer Miral. The 16,900 square-meter project, set to open in 2025, will add 18 new rides and attractions, including 3.3 kilometers of slides, bringing the park's total to more than 70 rides and experiences.

The centerpiece of the expansion is an all-new waterslide complex, which will feature the UAE’s highest slide, along with the country’s first water-based amusement ride and a thrilling 15-meter drop. This new complex will accommodate up to 20 guests at a time, enhancing the park's capacity and offering a variety of adrenaline-pumping experiences.

The expansion will introduce 'The Legend of the Lost Village', an extension of 'The Legend of the Lost Pearl', which pays homage to the UAE’s rich pearl-diving heritage. The park will also feature eight new pools, as well as expanded food and beverage options to cater to visitors' needs.

For younger guests, Yas Waterworld is adding scaled-down versions of its iconic rides, including Dawwama Junior and Sebag, designed to provide safe and enjoyable experiences for children.

Jonathan Brown, Chief Portfolio Officer at Miral, expressed the company's enthusiasm about the expansion, "We are thrilled to be providing our guests from around the world an enriched and exciting new experience".

Since opening in 2013, Yas Waterworld has garnered over 65 industry awards, including the Guinness World Records title for the world’s largest swimming lesson. In 2023, the park received the Gold Award for Innovation in Entertainment Events from the Mena Stevie Awards, the Best of the Best Things to Do award from TripAdvisor, and the title of Middle East’s Leading Water Park from the World Travel Awards 2024.

With the expansion set to bring even more excitement and innovation, Yas Waterworld continues to solidify its status as a premier water park destination in the region.
