The UAE is set to send six additional humanitarian aid flights to support the Lebanese people, following the directives of President Sheikh Mohamed, according to a statement from WAM on Monday. This new batch of aid is part of the $100 million relief package that the UAE has pledged to help alleviate Lebanon's ongoing crisis.
In a related effort, Sheikh Mohamed also ordered an urgent $30 million relief aid package to be provided to displaced Lebanese currently seeking refuge in Syria. This move underscores the UAE's continued commitment to supporting Lebanon and helping its people face the current challenges.
The UAE's relief campaign, titled "The UAE is with you, Lebanon," will officially begin on Tuesday, October 8, and will run until Monday, October 21. The campaign will see active participation from various community groups, institutions, and both government and private entities, all joining forces to contribute to the relief effort.
As part of an earlier directive from President Sheikh Mohamed, the UAE has already begun sending six aircraft loaded with approximately 205 tons of medical supplies, food, shelter equipment and other relief materials. This initiative aims to mitigate the humanitarian and health crisis in Lebanon.
The UAE is working in collaboration with international partners, including the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Crescent Societies, to ensure the aid reaches those in need as efficiently as possible.
