The UAE rescue team continues its extensive operations to combat wildfires raging across several regions of Albania, working in coordination with local authorities to contain the spread.
The mission, carried out under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, highlights the country’s commitment to global humanitarian efforts and rapid disaster response. Officials said the deployment reflects the UAE’s long-standing humanitarian approach, rooted in solidarity and international cooperation.
The specialised Emirati team, supported by advanced equipment and joint aircraft, began its operations last Monday. Since then, they have conducted dozens of aerial sorties, releasing thousands of kilograms of water over affected areas.
The wildfires, which first broke out on 5 August 2025, have spread rapidly due to extreme heatwaves, prolonged drought and strong winds. The UAE mission has since intensified its field operations to extinguish the flames and ensure preventive measures against their recurrence.
Authorities emphasised that the ongoing mission is part of the UAE’s broader strategy to strengthen international disaster relief efforts. By deploying resources swiftly and effectively, the UAE aims to protect lives, safeguard property and support global resilience against natural disasters.
