UAE launches digital parking permits for people of determination

The Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination has announced the introduction of digital parking permits for individuals in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Effective from September 1, this new system replaces the need for paper permits, allowing people of determination (PoD) to carry their permits digitally on their phones or devices.

These digital permits are electronically linked to the relevant systems in both emirates, streamlining the process and enhancing accessibility for permit holders when traveling between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. In Abu Dhabi, PoD can continue to enjoy free parking in paid spaces, while in Dubai, charges for paid parking spaces remain applicable.

Salama Al Reyami, head of networks and operations at the Zayed Higher Organisation, highlighted the initiative as a significant step towards improving the quality of life for people of determination. She emphasized that this move aligns with the UAE's broader goals of sustainability and digital transformation, creating a more accessible and easier future.

In a related development, Sharjah has also streamlined its parking system for people of determination. Since May, they no longer need to display ID cards on their car windshields, as their cards are automatically linked to the municipality's public parking system.

The UAE continues to support its people of determination by offering free parking permits through a quick and easy online application process. The initiative underscores the country's commitment to enhancing accessibility and convenience for all its residents.
