The UAE has introduced dedicated consular services for Golden Visa holders to assist them during emergencies overseas, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mofa) announced on Tuesday, October 14.
The new service includes a 24-hour hotline (+97124931133) allowing Golden Visa holders to contact Mofa’s Call Centre directly for assistance in crises, disasters or other exceptional circumstances. The initiative ensures that these long-term residents are included in emergency and evacuation plans coordinated with relevant authorities.
Mofa said the support extends to cases of death abroad, with repatriation and burial arrangements facilitated through streamlined consular procedures to help families complete necessary formalities efficiently.
If a Golden Visa holder loses or damages their passport while abroad, the ministry will issue an electronic Return Document through its website to help them return to the UAE.
Introduced in 2019, the Golden Visa grants long-term residency without the need for a local sponsor. It is available to investors, entrepreneurs, specialists in science and engineering, outstanding students and other qualified individuals.
Recent expansions have made the visa accessible to new categories, including exceptional gamers, content creators, teachers and superyacht owners, depending on the emirate.
