UAE-Kuwait joint committee signs eight MoUs, executive programs

The fifth session of the UAE-Kuwait Joint Higher Committee concluded in Abu Dhabi, where both nations signed eight Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and executive programs, further strengthening their bilateral ties.

The meeting was chaired by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, with the Kuwaiti delegation led by Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Yahya.

The signed agreements cover various sectors, including infrastructure, telecommunications, cybersecurity and defense. Notably, Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, and Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya signed an MoU on cooperation in infrastructure. Additionally, Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya formalized agreements on standardisation activities and telecommunications.

Educational, cultural, and sports collaborations were also solidified with executive programs signed by UAE ministers and the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister. These programs aim to foster closer ties in these sectors between 2024 and 2027.

One of the key agreements includes an MoU between the UAE Cybersecurity Council and Kuwait’s Cyber Security Centre, reflecting the countries' commitment to strengthening cybersecurity.

In his opening remarks, Sheikh Abdullah highlighted the significance of the session, saying that it "reflects the deep fraternal ties between the two brotherly nations, established by late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, hand in hand with his brothers late Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah and late Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah."

The high-level meeting was attended by several UAE ministers, including Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber and Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, among others, alongside senior Kuwaiti officials.

The event also saw a meeting between the UAE President and the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister on Monday, where discussions focused on enhancing cooperation to meet the aspirations of their peoples for development and prosperity.
