UAE, Bahrain launch one-point travel system

The UAE and Bahrain have launched a one-point travel project to ease passenger movement between the two countries.

Under the system, travellers will complete preclearance procedures at their departure airport, removing the need for additional security checks upon arrival.

The pilot phase will operate at Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi and Bahrain International Airport, according to the state news agency Wam.

In the UAE, the project is being implemented by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security. In Bahrain, it is overseen by the Ministry of Interior in coordination with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The initiative comes under the broader efforts to streamline regional travel. Last year, a Unified GCC Tourist Visa was announced on World Tourism Day. The Schengen-style program, also referred to as the GCC Grand Tours Visa, will allow non-Gulf nationals to visit any of the six GCC countries under a single visa.
