Saudi health authorities release multilingual Hajj guide

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health and the Public Health Authority (Weqaya) have issued a multilingual awareness guide for the Hajj season, focusing on prevention and basic health guidance for pilgrims.

The material is available in eight languages, including Arabic, English, French, Urdu, Persian, Indonesian, Turkish and Malay, to reach a wide range of nationalities.

The guide covers different stages of the pilgrimage, starting with pre-Hajj health requirements and extending to advice during the rituals. It includes measures to prevent heat exhaustion and heatstroke, along with steps to limit the spread of respiratory infections in crowded settings.

Basic first aid instructions are also outlined, with guidance on how to respond to emergencies before medical help is available.

Specific sections address vulnerable groups, offering advice on managing health conditions during Hajj to reduce complications. The guide also includes recommendations on food safety to avoid illness.

Authorities said the initiative forms part of ongoing work to improve health awareness and preparedness among pilgrims, in line with Saudi Arabia’s wider health sector plans.

Pilgrims have been advised to review the guide in advance through the official link: https://static.moh.gov.sa/assets/pdf/Hajj-Book-English.pdf
