Riyadh: The Saudi Foreign Ministry has expressed deep concern over the recent military escalation in Yemen following Israeli attacks on the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry condemned the Saturday attacks, stating they exacerbate regional tensions and undermine ongoing efforts to resolve the conflict in Gaza. The Ministry urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint and to shield the region and its people from the dangers of war, according to Xinhua news agency.
The statement also called on the international community and influential parties to take responsibility in ending regional conflicts.
Meanwhile, Saudi Defence Ministry Spokesperson Turki Al-Maliki affirmed on Sunday that the Kingdom has no involvement in the Hodeidah attacks and will not permit any violation of its airspace.
Houthi-run al-Masirah TV reported that Israeli airstrikes on Hodeidah resulted in six deaths and 83 injuries. In response to the attacks, the Houthis have vowed retaliatory measures.
