Riyadh: Winners of the 'India@75' mega quiz hosted by Gulf Madhyamam for the school students in Saudi Arabia received their awards at a function held at the Indian Embassy in Riyadh.
Students in junior and senior categories who won the first three places in the quiz received the prizes.
Gulf Madhyamam hosted the 'India@75' mega quiz on the occasion of India's 75th Independence Day and to celebrate the longstanding relationship between India and Saudi Arabia.
Over 10,000 students in Saudi Arabia participated in the quiz which was held in three rounds.
Prizes were distributed by the Embassy Defense Attache Colonel G.S Grewal. First prize was awarded to Kush Ram Mahalaxme (Junior Category) and Asna Shafi (Senior Category) from Dammam Internation Indian School. The ceremony took place in the Indian Embassy Auditorium and was inaugurated by the Indian Ambassador to Saudi, Dr Ausuf Sayeed.
In the Junior Category, Naira Shahdan (International Indian Public School, Riyadh) and D Gautham Krishna (Al Manar, International School, Yanbu) won second prize.
In the Senior Category Dhruv Jain (International Indian School, Dammam), Iniyan Shivakumar (New Middle East International School, Riyadh) received third prize. For winners in each province, prize distribution will be held in separate ceremonies in their respective areas.
Embassy Second Secretary (Economic and Commercial) Azeem Anwar, Gulf Madhyamam representatives K.M Basheer, Salim Mahi, Hilal Hussain, Muneer Eluvilla, Salim Babu, Khalil Rahman and others were present at the ceremony.
The grand finale of the contest was anchored by celebrated Indian television presenter and seven-time winner of Limca Book of Records as Quiz master, 'PickBrain' Giri Balasubramaniam.
The Lulu Group was the main sponsor of the Quiz which was held under the aegis of the Indian Embassy.
