Palestinians vow to continue protest against Israeli blockade at border

Gaza: Different Palestinian parties in Gaza led by the ruling Hamas have vowed to continue protest at the border to pressure Israel to lift the obstruction for the reconstruction of Gaza.

Several Palestinians who had protested demanding the removal of the blockades were injured in the 11-day Israeli attack on the coastal enclave

The factions included Islamic Jihad, the left-wing Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), as well as other smaller factions. In a joint statement, they urged Israel to take reasonability for its obstruction of the reconstruction of Gaza, and for the blockade.

The statement also called on Palestinians to be steadfast in the cause of Gaza, and increase their engagement with the occupation, pledging to fight the siege until Israel lifts it.

Israeli forces shot live fires at the Palestinian protesters at the fence separating Gaza and Israel to mark the 52nd anniversary of the burning of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem on Saturday. The protest was aimed at drawing attention to the blockade Israel has imposed on the Gaza Strip since 2007 when Hamas took control of the strip.

At least 41 Palestinians, including a 13-year-old boy who remains in critical condition after being shot in the neck, were injured. An Israeli soldier was injured and is in critical condition from gunfire from one of the protesters.
