Muscat: Oman Ministry of Labour, on Thursday, extended the deadline for the renewal of foreign labourers' employment status up to coming Tuesday.
As part of the ongoing regulation of the labour market, the Labour Ministry started the renewal process in December. The service was made available till the 6th of January but was later extended to 21st. The disruption of online services that happened earlier this month is considered the reason behind the new update.
To renew resident cards on expiry, those employed in professions restricted by their visa should change to permissible jobs. The details of one's job status, if it satisfies the visa or not, could be verified in Sanad centres. The sponsor's ID card is required to alter this. After completing the online process, one can approach RPO service centres and renew their ID cards.
The renewal date's extension comes as a relief for workers. Many who work as representatives or promoters in sales or purchase fields, have to change their posts. Workers are being given lower positions after the change. Many of them degraded their posts foreseeing the change that could happen in the future. Permission is granted to change foreigners from one job position to another as per the business's license criteria. Labour ministry is also permitting the transfer of foreign workers between employers with terms and conditions.
