Kuwait to suspend entry for non-nationals into the country for two weeks starting on February 7th, state news agency KUNA reported on Wednesday. However, direct foreign relatives of Kuwaitis and their helpers accompanying them will be exempted and have to self-quarantine for two weeks upon entry.
The Gulf country's cabinet also announced strict restrictions in the country such as the closure of all commercial facilities from 8 PM- 5 AM amidst increasing Covid-19 cases which shall be effective from Sunday. The authorities also ordered a temporary ban on halls and tents for celebrations and gatherings. All sports events have been requested to be postponed. The cabinet also instructed the Civil Service Commission to press charges on civil servants in case of preventive measures' violations.
During a cabinet meeting held yesterday, the Prime Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah urged all people to work together to eradicate the pandemic.
