Gaza: Israel hit a school in Gaza City and killed 90 people on Saturday in a horrific massacre, which Israel claims was intended to destroy a Hamas command centre. The Gaza Civil Defence agency said that the bombing occurred in the Al-Taba'een school in the Al-Sahaba area, Agence France-Presse reported.
The civil defence agency spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said that the attack was so horrific that some human bodies even caught fire.
In a statement, the Israeli army claimed on Saturday that it had struck Hamas terrorists operating within a Hamas command and control centre inside the school.
It was only on Thursday that Israel bombed two schools in Gaza and killed 18 people. Then also, the Israeli army claimed that they struck Hamas command centres.
After the war started on October 7, which was triggered by Hamas's lightning attack on Israeli territories, killing 1,198 Israelis, officially, 39,699 Gazans were slaughtered. During the October 7 Hamas attack, they seized 251 hostages and 111 of them are still held in Gaza. However, Israel's military believes that 39 of the latter are dead.
Following the Hamas attack, Israel pledged that it would destroy the Palestinian resistance group to its roots. Israel's military, which started from one end of the Gazan enclave, covered all the areas in 10 months, but had to return to some areas where Hamas fighters cropped back.
On Friday, Israeli forces informed that its troops were operating in Khan Younis, the city in southern Gaza, from where Israeli forces had withdrawn in April after months of deadly battle.
