New Gulf Madhyamam initiative paves way for students to join news making

Manama: Students from the Indian School Bahrain are now going to step into the world of news creation. The Campus World project, launched by Gulf Madhyamam, is paving the way by introducing students to the process of identifying news stories and preparing them.

Students would have a lot to say about their school and country. Campus World attempts to transcribe those stories and curiosities. Student participation is ensured at all stages of newspaper design, from finding to creating it. The activities will be overseen by an editorial board consisting of school teachers and Gulf Madhyamam representatives.

The Campus World project aims to bring out the talents of students. The Campus World Editorial Committee consists of 20 students from the Isa Town and Riffa campuses of Indian School. Leo Thomas Dominic, Ardra Sreehari, Lasyasree Kumily, K Jyotsana, Meenakshi Gobikannan, Jovanna Jes Binu, Abigail Elise Shibu, Pranush Nanaya, Joslyn Maria Dias, Avon Maria, Krishna Rajeevan Nair, Zoya Javed, Akshata Saravanan, Pranshu Saini, Sanvi Chaudhary, Hima Ajith Kumar, Muhammad Murtasa, Amrita Suresh, Ira Junith and Zia Kishore are the student representatives on the Editorial Board. Staff representatives include Sreesadan of Isa Town campus and Anitha Ajith of Riffa campus.


The students were given training on newspaper design last day. The training was led by Madhyamam English Online Assistant Editor Saeed Mohammed. Sub-editor Anjana and graphic designer Jitin initiated students on news writing and newspaper design. Indian School Vice Principal Anand Nair presided over the function. School representative Sreesadan and Gulf Madhyamam Bureau Chief Siju George also addressed the students. Student representative Meenakshi offered the welcome note, and Krishna R Nair gave the vote of thanks. Shakib Valiyapeedikakal coordinated the event. Leading educational institution FIITJEE is the main sponsor of the Campus World initiative.
