Manama: The Applied Science University (ASU), based in Eker, Bahrain, has retained its position as one of the leading universities in the Arab world. ASU maintained its 25th place in the prestigious QS Arab University Rankings for 2025, published by Quacquarelli Symonds, a global authority on higher education rankings. The ranking reflects the university’s continued commitment to academic excellence and its growing influence both regionally and internationally.
The university’s consistent rise in the rankings is notable, having climbed from 45th place in 2019 to its current position of 25th in 2025. This achievement reveals ASU’s dedication to enhancing educational standards and contributing positively to the higher education landscape in Bahrain and beyond.
Professor Waheeb Al Khaja, chairman of ASU’s board of trustees, congratulated Professor Hatem Masri, the university's president, on this accomplishment. Prof Masri, along with Dr Mohamed Youssef, the vice-president of administration, finance and community engagement, represented ASU at the official QS ranking ceremony in Jordan.
Prof Al Khaja highlighted that the achievement is a result of the university's relentless efforts to improve academic quality and produce graduates equipped to meet the demands of both the public and private sectors. He emphasized that this milestone would positively impact both the university and its students in the long term.
Prof Masri expressed his gratitude to the university's board of directors, led by chairman Sameer Nass, for their unwavering support. He attributed the university’s success to its collaborative efforts with regional and global partners, as well as its alignment with the local and regional labour markets. Additionally, he acknowledged the support of Bahrain's Supreme Council for the Development of Education and Training, the Education Ministry and the Higher Education Council, noting their role in advancing educational standards not only at ASU but across Bahrain.
Dr Youssef also shared his pride in ASU’s achievement, stating that this ranking aligns with the university’s mission to establish itself as a leading private higher education institution in the Arab world. He expressed confidence that this recognition would further enhance the university’s reputation and contribute to its future success.
