In a world that constantly talks about taking space, claiming power and competing for equality, it is easy to forget a quieter truth: the deepest influence in life often comes not from taking but from giving.
Giving is not weakness. It is not submission. It is a form of strength that creates connection, trust and harmony in relationships especially in personal relationships, the energy we bring determines the environment we build.
As women, we often carry a natural ability to nurture, support and hold emotional balance within families, friendships and communities. This does not mean sacrificing ourselves or losing our voice. Rather, it means recognising that our power often lies in how we give, not in how loudly we compete.
Modern conversations sometimes frame equality as a battle for power with men. But relationships are not battlefields; they are partnerships. When men and women begin competing for dominance, respect often turns into rivalry. Yet when each honours their unique strengths, something far more powerful emerges- balance.
In relationships giving means offering respect, patience, encouragement and emotional intelligence. Interestingly, these are the very qualities that create the respect we seek in return. When a woman stands strong in her own energy - calm, self-aware and generous in spirit, she does not need to demand respect. It naturally follows.
This does not mean accepting imbalance or silence in the face of injustice. True giving comes from strength, not from depletion. It comes from a place where a woman knows her worth and therefore chooses to build rather than compete.
On Women’s Day, perhaps the reminder we need is not just about empowerment through struggle, but empowerment through wisdom. The ability to nurture growth in others while staying grounded in ourselves is a remarkable form of leadership.
A woman who understands the power of giving creates an atmosphere where relationships thrive. She becomes the anchor in moments of chaos, the voice of clarity when emotions rise, and the quiet force that keeps bonds intact.
In the end, giving does not diminish us. It expands us. What we offer to others often finds its way back to us- in trust, love, support and respect.
As the eldest daughter of my family, I have learnt that true strength is not in proving power, but in carrying grace without ego, standing tall in self-respect, and choosing to give because when a woman knows her worth, she does not compete for respect...she creates it.
