In what could be deemed as weakening of the hold of COVID-19 pandemic on India, the Union Health Ministry informed that no deaths had been reported due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours in fifteen states and union territories. Seven states and union territories recorded no fatalities in the previous week. While there is a steady decline in the number of new cases reported each day, there has also been a 55 per cent decline in average daily deaths, informed the ministry.
"The number of cases (of Covid) is also falling. So that is good news. In the last 24 hours, no death was recorded in Delhi. So that is also good news," said VK Paul of Niti Aayog.
However, it is mandatory to stay cautious as a recent sero survey predicted that over 70 per cent of the population is still vulnerable to the infection, he added.
